The Start of Something New.

Welcome to Styled by Nina Marie! I’m Nina, a 25 year old fashion stylist in NYC. After working for an online and in person department store run styling business for about a year and a half, the Pandemic hit. Like all of us, this gave me a lot of time to reflect of my past and dream about my future. In a job I never thought I would be in, I realized, as cliche as it is, that this job was a really big part of me.

But, with every business shuffling its structure to survive, the company I was working with  decided to change the way it operated with its clients. It was no longer going to be a one on one interaction, and I essentially would no longer have these personal relationships with clients. I was devastated. In what I call “The Dark Days,” March and April, I was basically alone in my NYC apartment, not seeing anyone, and the vast majority of daily contact was with my clients. In such an unprecedented time, when I thought “well who the hell is going to care about clothes,” I was receiving an outpouring of messages from my clients, checking up on me and my family, and I realized this business is yes, about clothes, but it is about so much more. I wasn’t quite ready to give that up, even for job security in a time when it’s more prized then ever.

So, what were my next steps… only 24 (at that time), basically clueless in the arts of business, I decided to go out on my own. How hard could it be, I thought?

Well… was I wrong. It’s been a little over a month since I launched Styled by Nina Marie, and a little over 4 months since I hatched the idea, and I have thought to myself countless times, “What on earth was I thinking?” But, thanks to very supportive family and friends offering tips, strategy, artistic skills, and most importantly, encouragement, all along the way, I’ve made it this far.. Hey, every day in the right direction counts, right?

So, if you’re still reading, thank you. And stay tuned! New content coming soon (not about me anymore, don’t worry). And to all those who have lost someone to COVID-19, my heart is with you ❤️

xoxo,

Nina Marie
